How to remove tape in extensions?
Here are some tips and ideas on how to make the removal of the tape in extensions a little bit faster and easier.
#1: Use the right tape in remover
You should use a clear oil-based remover because it is specially formulated to remove tape in hair extensions. A simple remover available in every grocery store is coconut oil. This is a great way to help loosen the glue on the extensions and also give your hair deep conditioning treatment at the same time. It smells gorgeous as well.
#2: Only apply the remover to a few wefts at a time
When you apply the oil-based removal, you should apply it to a single weft or a single row of wefts instead of saturating the whole head. The longer it stays on, the gummier it makes that adhesive, and the harder to remove it from the back of the tape and weft.
You can use as much remover on the section that you’re working with as you want. If you use too little, you might fail to weaken the bond. When you can’t peel the bond, simply add more remover.

#3: Use a paper towel to remove adhesive
After 30 seconds, peel the hair extensions off. You should use the tail of a comb to slide in between the wefts. Do not pull them because this will cause damage.
When you remove the wefts from the hair, you should use a small piece of paper towel to roll the edge of the adhesive up off the top of the weft. Then when you remove it, it will stick to the paper towel and not to your fingers. So you can easily drop it into the garbage can and keep your fingers nice and free from that tackiness or that stickiness.
Grab your comb and comb through the section of hair with tape in extensions. Make sure there is no sticky residue left in your hair. If you still have some residue, you can put a little bit more of the remover on there. Also, you can sprinkle some of the cornflour on there to remove the stickiness that’s left.

#4: Use Styrofoam head and wig pins
When you remove the tape in extensions from your hair, you can use some wig pins to attach the wefts to a Styrofoam head to keep track where they go back. Using Styrofoam makes the cutting and blending really fast and easy.
#5: Mix baking soda with clarifying shampoo
Both of the wefts and your hair should be clarified before you reinstall them.
When you go to wash your hair, you can mix a little bit of baking soda in with your clarifying shampoo to create just a nice little paste. When you put the mixture in your hair, you should rub it into where those extensions were installed. And then you can just take a comb and lightly comb through that section to help break up the stickiness that is in your hair. Rinse your hair nice and clean. Shampoo it again to remove any traces of the baking soda. Then you put the conditioner on your hair from the mid-shaft down to make it more manageable.
When you go to wash your hair extensions, mix the shampoo and the baking soda in a small bow. Remove the wefts from the Styrofoam head, put them in the bow for three minutes. Then wash, rinse, dry, and place them on the Styrofoam.
