As a result, no matter what they try on, it looks fake. In this article, let us help you avoid that situation by finding out the best lace closure concealer.
Why do we need lace closure concealer?
The answer is simple: to cover anything that doesn’t look like your real scalp or your real hair. You want to create the illusion of hair growing straight out from your scalp. The last thing you want when wearing a lace closure is for people to find out that little secret.
Lace closure is made to mimic our actual pores. But the lace is still bigger and more visible, so we need something that fills in all the “holes” of the lace closure, to make it full and look like our real scalp.
How to use lace closure concealer?
There are generally 2 popular ways to conceal lace closure today: bleaching and concealing. And we will show you in details how to do both. Both ways are great in camouflaging the knots and the lace closure glue. Before jumping on the “how” part, let’s break down the matter to determine which way works best for you.
Bleaching method
Bleaching is a more permanent way to deal with lace closures. When you bleach it, basically you are using harsh chemicals to re-paint the surface. With bleaching, you need to be extra careful not to let the bleach falls into the hair. If you do that, the hair can be orangey-tinted and look weird.
Also, bleaching can lead to the knots becoming dry and brittle over time.
Guidance on lace closure bleaching
Step 1: In a plastic bowl, mix bleach powder, volume developer until it becomes a white pasty texture
Step 2: Use a Q-tip and start spreading the mixture evenly on the inside part of the closure. The reason for using Q-tip is to prevent the bleach from leaking down to the hair. However, if you are comfortable using an application brush, use it carefully
Step 3: When you finish spreading, flip it over and let it sit on an aluminum foil. Make sure you do not press the hair down.
Step 4: Use a pointy fine brush. Dip it into the bleach and start to fill in the stubborn knots on the outside of the closure.
Step 5: After letting it sit for around 30 minutes, it’s time to tint the knot so it looks more realistic. Mix the hair dye texture as instructions on the packaging.
Step 6: Use another pointy fine brush to dip into the mixture and begin applying onto all the bleached knots.
Step 7: Apply another piece of aluminum foil over the top and let it rest. Finally, rinse and dry the closure.
It may sound complicated, but just after a few practices, you will become the master.
Concealer method
Using foundation or lace closure concealer is a new and safe way to hide all the knots. It is easier to fix when you are not a professional in bleaching. Besides, because makeup is not harsh chemical, the wig can last longer using this method. The problem with this is you need to re-apply each use, and you may want to pick your foundation or lace closure concealer wisely.
Guidance on lace closure concealing:
Step 1: Grab a concealer brush and start to apply a small amount of concealer into the inside of the lace closure. Spread and blend evenly.
Step 2: Put down a bond protective shield and use another clean brush to spread it evenly
Step 3: Let it rest till dry, or use a blowdryer if you don’t want to wait
Step 4: Repeat the process 3 to 4 times, until the lace closure turns into the color you want.
As you can see, this is much easier than closure bleaching but it still shows a wonderful result.
