Step 2: Section The Hair For Each Dreads
You can use a tail comb to section your hair and start from the front of the head. The section between 1-3 cm so the dreads don’t get too big or thin. The quantity of the section is up to you.
You can secure each section by a rubber band (elastic) so that when you begin dreading, you don’t pull in hair from other sections.
Afterward, use a hair clip to hold the hair up.
Step 3: Twist And Rip Dreads Black Hair
Take one of the sections from the bottom, and undo the rubber band. You start to twist and rip dreadlocks.
Let the hair fall down and hold the end of the section. Continue splitting your hair into 2 parts, twist, and move them to separate sides. You repeat the twisting and ripping over and over. Remember not to do them tightly, and don‘t do them completely to the scalp.
You will see your hair knotting together and creating your dread.
Step 4: Tie Sections With Elastic Bands To Keep In Place
The next step on how to make dreads twist and rip is to tie your section with a temporary black elastic band to it in place. Ensure that the bands are only on the bottom tips of the twist and rip section. Repeat step 3 for each of the sections until all sections are dreaded.
You can use embroidery thread instead of bands because it won‘t melt and allows the strands of hair to move freely.
You can remove the bands from your dreads about a month or even after making your dreads, once you feel that your hair lock and bind together.
Step 5: Separate Sections That Join Together
The area that joins together the most is on the part of the head that you sleep on, hence you can separate them once a week. The other only need separating once in 2 weeks.
